I give the view that I hate the idea of taking the life of an animal, which prematurely and permanently removes them from this world without even having brought harm to anyone, to temporarily satisfy an appetite in a manner that isn’t even necessary. So the only life the animal gets is taken from it at an early age because people like the flavour of their dead flesh.

But worse still, the only life most of them get is fraught with any combination of darkness, over-crowding, cramped conditions, growth hormones, their infants being taken just after birth resulting in trauma (for both parent and infant), and many other horrors.

And I hate it when people say, “If God didn’t want us to eat animals, why did he make them out of meat?”. I just respond with, “Since when did you give a shit about religion? That just means you’re doing 2 things wrong.”

Every time I tell someone that I’m vegan, I get the question: Is it by choice?

What meat eater gets asked that question?

When I explain it’s both due to health reasons and by choice, it’s like I’ve passed some kind of test. Sometimes people will say, “Oh well, that’s okay then.” I’ve been attacked by meat eaters for not eating meat, more than I’ve attacked meat eaters for eating meat.

I don’t get it.
